Happy New Year

Last Christmas, my friend, Ruth, gave me a book called Animal Speaks, which describes the symbolism of animals. In it, the frog is described as “a totem of metamorphosis–a symbol of coming into one’s own creative power.”

Also, a frog’s connection to water serves as a reminder: Are we becoming too mundane? Are we mired in the mud of our day-to-day lives? Are we feeling bogged down, waterlogged, or drowning?

I’ve always had a special fondness for frogs–even collected a menagerie when I was a child.

So, I’ve chosen this special creature to represent my New Year haiku:

A frog leaps forward

His mind focused only on

Landing where he’s aimed

  1. Love it! It amazes me how you can convey so much in so few words and syllables. Very impressive!

  2. Slippery, green frog
    golden, iridescent eye
    quick, flick. Bug breakfast.

  3. Mike says:

    he leaps, lips pursed
catching the lady off guard –
    nice kiss, wrong princess

I love to read your comments, even more, your HAIKU!
