The theme for Day 29’s celebration of National Poetry Month is “AUTUMN.” Click HERE for details of this haiku celebration of throughout the month of April.
A few years ago, I found this leaf in the wooded acres where I lived and was struck by its brilliant colors and its contrast to the gray day. Once again, nature was a metaphor for life.
Share your AUTUMN haiku in the comments of this post and you’ll be entered in the drawing for one of three signed copies of LIFE: HAIKU BY HAIKU! Only three rules:
- Must be your original haiku (which is typically seventeen syllables, three lines of 5-7-5 syllables each, but I won’t be a stickler.)
- Must be entered in the comments of this blog post
- Must be about the topic of the day

leaf ripened in red
time to let go
dance your way down
Love that image of a leaf “dancing its way down.” 🙂 Very nice.
A favourite season
Nostalgia of falling leaves
Spring colours reversed
I never looked at autumn as “spring colours reversed.” Very nice!
crunchy leaves
falling to the ground-
corn flakes on my plate
🙂 Nice, Azim.
Sudden chilly breeze
The clouds and seasons cycle
Colors and cold come
Nora, I love that first chill of autumn. It kind of reminds me of going back to school as a child. 🙂
stray scarlet oak leaf
paints the gray Kansas of home
as an Oz portal
An Oz portal. Love it!
Leaves die in glory,
air chills. If Autumn comes, can
Spring be far behind?
Thank goodness for Spring! 🙂
