National Poetry Month Contest: Day 8 – Trees

Today’s theme is “Trees.”

Sometimes I miss the quiet of living in the country. One of my favorite “sounds of silence” was the way the wind whispered through the trees. Living in Dallas, I occasionally hear momentary whispers. But too soon, they’re interrupted…

That day, I stacked rocks in whispering trees . . .

trees whisper secrets
like a breezy lullaby
‘til traffic wakes me

The theme for tomorrow is “school.” What will you write?

To enter for a chance to win a copy of my book, Life: Haiku by Haiku, leave a comment with your original haiku (must use the Theme of the Day). Each haiku will qualify for one entry, so enter as many times as you’d like! (NOTE: Shipping address of winners must be within the United States.)

  1. Claudia says:

I like it!! I have nothing for trees yet. Behind. Hubby had sudden surgery this week.
Love how you made “until” into a one syllable. Clever.

  2. Tree of life exhales:
    Wild communities flourish,
    Swaying rhythmically.

  3. Steve says:

    listen, a spring breeze
the leaves are like ocean waves
    reshaping the air
