National Poetry Month Contest: Day 9 – School

Today’s theme is “School.”

There’s nothing like seeing the world all new again through the eyes of my grandchildren. Through Tommy’s eyes, I can wonder about the whale that lives in the neighborhood pond. Through Allie’s eyes, I corn on the cob never tasted so good as that burst of each kernel’s flavor when she held her first cob.

Class is in session
I learn the world once again
Through eyes of a child

The theme for tomorrow is “books.” What will you write?

To enter for a chance to win a copy of my book, Life: Haiku by Haiku, leave a comment with your original haiku (must use the Theme of the Day). Each haiku will qualify for one entry, so enter as many times as you’d like! (NOTE: Shipping address of winners must be within the United States.)

  1. Opportunity,
    cultural inheritence,
    skepticism, hope.

  2. Claudia says:

    all dreams carried on
    yellowing sheets with blue lines
    those big chief tablets

  3. Steve says:

    “Let her school you boy,”
    said the Goddess, once again,
    disguised as spring rain.
