Spring time has arrived
My favorite time of year
Haiku spring to life!
April is National Poetry Month, and as you may know, haiku is one of my favorite forms of poetry. So, as in past years, starting April 1, I commit to writing and posting one haiku each day, and I invite you to do the same. Feel free to share your haiku in the comments, or, share a link to your blog where you’ve posted your haiku.
FamilyEducation.com posted a poem by Charles Ghigna that perfectly and poetically describes a haiku poem:
Haiku is a poem
of seventeen syllables
with only three lines.
The first line has five.
The second line has seven.
The third line has five.
Each haiku describes
a fleeting moment in Time,
a glimpse of Nature.
In previous years, I’ve used a theme for each day. With so many of us being isolated, this year, I’m leaving the theme open and I look forward to reading haiku about what you’ve discovered during the isolation resulting from Coronavirus.
We’ve got a couple of days before April 1, so starting counting syllables! 🙂
